Physiotherapist: Lindsay Harris
Lindsay completed her BSc (Physiotherapy) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2000. She then went on to complete her MSc (Physiotherapy), specialising in Sports Physiotherapy. After working in a sports clinic in JHB for a year, she went on to work in the United Kingdom, but returned to join a dynamic sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy clinic in JHB. She has developed a special interest in the “shoulder complex,” but enjoys all sports, outpatient and orthopaedic treatment and rehabilitation. Eagle Canyon is a new venture which she has joined and hopes to build it up to be as dynamic as its surroundings.
About Physiotherapy:
This is a therapy which has been around for years. Physiotherapy is not only hospital based (intensive care units, high care, paediatrics, neurology, orthopaedics and trauma), but has a large focus on outpatients, orthopaedic and sports treatment and rehabilitation. It aims at assessing the primary problem (pain; joint/muscle/neural stiffness; weakness or other imbalances) and then aims to normalise/optimise and in the case of a sportsperson maximise function and performance.
A large part of physiotherapy now includes pre-season assessment and treatment. This aims to identify limitations (stiffness/weakness) which may exist, and can lead to injury should they be exposed to high repetition or load.
This is particularly applicable to the golfer, who tends to have various strength and flexibility limitations, which will over time, with exposure to overload and high repetition, lead to injury.
Physiotherapy at Eagle Canyon :
